Virtual reality staat nog in de kinderschoenen, maar wordt nu al gezien als één van de belangrijkste technische ontwikkelingen voor de komende jaren. We vroegen drie kenners hoe virtual reality eruit ziet in 2025.
“Met Scopic ontwikkelt Van Gerven virtual reality-video’s, zoals de populaire 360 graden-video waarin het lijkt alsof je met een wingsuit van een berg af springt en over een vallei zweeft. “Virtual reality is echt een nieuw medium, en niet een technologie die je even toepast op een film. Het heeft enorm lang geduurd om alle mogelijkheden voor de huidige filmtechnologie en de bijbehorende technieken uit te pluizen, en dat zal voor virtual reality niet anders zijn”, zegt Van Gerven. “Als we met Scopic de nieuwe Stanley Kubrick van virtual reality kunnen worden, ben ik heel tevreden.””
These are the reactions on the WINGS Experience. WINGS is a story about the ultimate dream of mankind: Flying. Even though many people dream of it, only a few dare to take the risks. In short we look back at the roots of this dream, and to the people who have been pioneering towards this ultimate goal. Together with the best wingsuite, we will go in a search for the most challenging flights around the world. Flying around the world, we will look for amazing landmarks, daring flights and crazy stunts, to show the world in a way like never seen before. Surround Cinema is a new phenomenon. The viewer has the feeling of actually being somewhere else, being able to look where they want. This results in two key matters: The experience and the environment. Flying through the air is an experience of a life time. Besides this we would like put our viewer in the most extraordinary landscapes mother earth has to offer us. Beautiful landscapes and amazing travels is the key visual element of WINGS. From China to Mali, from Brasil to Antarctica. Everywhere in the world are majestic mountain sceneries. Traveling to these remote places is an experience on its own. And of course, the manmade highest buildings are a great exit point to jump from. Underlining the extraordinary achievements of mankind.
